Devon Return to Teaching Programme

Kids spelling teacher

If your break in service has lasted more than one year, you should consider the following points in order to strengthen your application for a teaching post:

  • ways in which you can gain recent classroom experience
  • ways in which you can update your knowledge of recent developments in relevant areas of the curriculum
  • ways in which you can demonstrate that the experience you have had during your career break might enhance the professional contribution you can make in a new post.
Learning and Development Partnership are currently contracted by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) to run two Return to Teach programmes each year until 2012. The Devon Primary Return to Teach Programme will run during Spring terms, application packs to be available from 1 September each year.  The Devon Secondary Return to Teach Programme will run each Autumn term with application packs available after Easter break each year.

Further information about Return to Teaching can be obtained from the TDA Return to Teach website. Returners can register themselves in order to be kept up to date with current initiatives and available courses either online or by telephone on 0845 6000993. Registration will entitle you to a termly magazine 'Return' containing useful information, case studies and details of upcoming courses.
