This unique resource provides valuable support for the teaching of Citizenship at Key Stages 2 and 3. Filmed on location in Uganda with Amigos, a charity based in North Devon, the films explore the reality of life in Uganda and the efforts of a UK-based charity to provide education through child sponsorship as a route out of poverty, and their work to create a sustainable vocational training project to benefit the orphans in Uganda.
Hosted by Joss Stone, the narrative is engaging, relevant and entertaining. Combined with case studies based on real children and their families, the resource creates a contrast between life in the UK and life in Uganda that stimulates chldren to explore, discuss, and understand the differences and similarities of children's lives half a world apart.
The films are supported by teachers' support materials developed by teachers for teachers.
Devon Education Services is pleased to support this education venture by Amigos.
